I cannot say tell you how much Norm and the entire Curran staff helped our family through a shocking and trying year. From the first notifications, to collecting information and organizing precious memories, to the final farewells and the honor guard for my Dad, I was told "don't worry, we will take care of it", and you all did. The kindness and respect afforded our family was unparalleled. I did not have to worry about anything. Norm attended to every request, and considered input from the entire family, so we could grieve without worrying about the logistics. I know he he has an incredible staff supporting him to make it all happen. Curran definitely exceeded our expectations. It is obvious that you have a caring team who all work together to support families through the most difficult times. I felt as though I had good friends to guide me when I had no idea what to do, nor the energy to do it. James answered the phone and reassured me that all would be taken care of the night that my father passed. I certainly needed the support. Norm took the reins to coordinate the family's wishes (and we all had very different ideas ;-) ), insured every little detail was handled, and from that created truly honorable tributes to both Mom and Dad. He even was a hit with our 2 y/o grandson - who played for some time at Mom's viewing. Carl and Dan made sure the family was well cared for at the viewing and services, and engaged family members in thoughtful conversation. We all felt much more at ease in spite of the crowds and emotion. The end result were two exceptional and personalized tributes to lives well lived - you helped us to find and hold dear the happy memories when our minds were full of anguish. Thank you.

Matt Berger served as my focal point, and really my sanity during all of this. Matt was so kind to the entire family, and really put us at ease, just by letting us know that dad was enroute to the funeral home, that he was there..He had been a tissue donor, and prior to his passing he had fallen. Matt prepared us for how he'd look at the service. He gave us extra time to say goodbye. I truly couldn't have asked for a better person to walk though this process than with Matt. 100% i would recommend Curran Funeral Home. My dad passed unexpectedly and I had NO CLUE what I was doing. Matt Berger was a blessing. He walked me through every single step, with kindess and compassion.

Jim Kunkle is the one who took care of our family. We had just lost my mother that morning but he made time to meet with us that very day. He was very professional, knowledgeable, helpful, supportive and kind. We felt like he really cared about our family. He was compassionate and relatable, and made a very difficult time a bit easier for us. The time that the director took with us from our first meeting was so wonderful. When you’re grieving, the last thing you need is someone to rush you through the process. But we felt like we were given all the time we needed to make decisions. NO ONE could have possibly provided more attentive, sensitive care and ease of making arrangements (the amount of behind-the-scenes work that has to go on in such a compressed period of time in order to appear utterly seamless/flawless is massive) - and sensitively managing family member grief. Curran took away all logistics stress for me, allowing me simply - with their considerable support - to grieve our family's loss. I want to thank Jim Kunkle for his caring, compassionate manner in making it easier for my sister, Trudy Myers to arrange her husband's funeral at this very sad time in her life. He sat down and explained everything in detail as to what needed to be done and guided us thru the decisions that were made. He listened to what WE wanted and worked with us. With 4 women to deal with he was amazing. The day after making the arrangements for the funeral service it was asked, Did we get a Military honor guard ? We had discussed it when making the arrangements but didn't give Jim an answer before it went on to another question. Bob served in the Army during the Viet Nam War and it was agreed that this should be done. I contacted Jim and told him what was wanted. He said he would call and arrange it for the graveside burial service and also not to worry that he will 'take care of it.' He did a wonderful job on making my brother-in-law look so peaceful, and the viewing and funeral services went on very smoothly. James Kunkle made my first experience planning the funeral of my husband much easier than I anticipated. He was kind, warm, and explained everything to myself, daughter, and son. Norman Connors was also very kind. He asked questions about my husband that ultimately brought out his personality and life experiences that were so special to us, our family and friends. Norman was able to pick up special things and we it all together perfectly! In fact, Norman mentioned the same passage for Bruce's memorial folders that my daughter and I had chosen. I can't say enough good things about James and Norman. My son-in-law had recently lost his paternal grandfather, and maternal grandmother, and was amazed at the attention to our comfort exhibited by both James and Norman. The entire experience, as hard as it was, made us feel very special, and comments were made by many visitors about the attention to even the smallest of details.

I was especially impressed with Norman Connors's overall demeanor. He was very caring, patient, and understanding. His exemplary attention to detail made the process of bearing my mother's death much easier. My brother and I had all the freedom and time we needed to make decisions without pressure. Norman was there for me and at my side when needed. Thank you. I was so concerned about my mom's emaciated appearance. However, it was calming for me to see her at the viewing. Her appearance reminded me of how mom looked when she was healthy, and 10 years younger.

I asked for my mother to be given the respect and care she deserved, and when I saw my mother, she was so beautiful. My 94 year old grandmother (my mother's mother) said she looked 20 years younger. I live near a funeral home, and have told my children I do not want to be there because I don't like the way they care for the outside. My husband and I met Norm a few years ago at the Strongland Home Show at the Pittsburgh Mills. We talked about the Celebration Of Life Jim prearranged his funeral with Curran, and it was an act of love for me and his adult children. Everything he wanted was included, and we were surprised in many ways with the thoughtfulness of your staff. We, his family, are all grateful. It was beautiful in every way. It was Jim. On the day they transferred him from our home, the American flag was draped as he served in the military. It was very touching and added a softness. The respect, kindness, and preparation at his cremation was all he would have wanted. I believe Jim's Celebration of Life changed quite a bit of minds about that type of service. The word heard most often was "perfect". Rebecca Donahue and Norman Connors were there in so many ways. They truly were a blessing, and I shall never forget their kindness. The pie at the end of the Celebration Of Life was a nice touch!

The part that meant the most to me was during the final viewing, Norm placed my husband's Marine Corps hat that he always wore back on- that meant everything to me and my kinds. They work with the family to make the deceased's wishes come true. No detail was left out and they even threw in some unexpected surprises. Simply amazing. My dad looked like he had not even been sick. All aspects were meaningful, even the follow up care. It was nice to have help cleaning up my dad's affairs. Norm was so meticulous and caring. One of the hardest tasks we have to do in life is make funeral arrangements for a loved one. I found the staff of the Curran Funeral Home to be the most compassionate and professional people I have ever met. I worked with Art, James, and Norman. The funeral directors were the most caring, compassionate people that I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. They were terrific through this really difficult time of loss. They were really caring and gave me some tips on his estate and who to notify. The portrait was exquisite and a really great thing that I hung on my wall. Norm, Our family was so blessed to have you lay dad to rest. When you sat with our family to prepare for the Celebration Of Life Tribute Service, that in and of itself was so nice. Just sitting around, talking and laughing about my dad. You had also said you wanted us to leave with a smile, and not a tear the day of the funeral. In the back of my mind, I thought that could never happen. When I first saw my father at the family viewing, I couldn't believe how great he looked. He looked peaceful, and looked like dad. The Celebration Of Life Tribute Service was nothing like I had expected. It was like you knew my father his entire life. The Fig Newtons made us laugh as we were leaving. You kept your promise, we left with a smile. When we got to the restaurant for lunch, we felt so good about everyone coming up to us and commenting about the wonderful service. People can make a difference. That is why the death of a loved one can change your life in so many ways, for without them nothing will ever be the same. When the news comes, it feels like the world has stopped. In my family we lost a captivating blondie with blue eyes, a light hearted nature and the most sensitive heart, at the unexpected age of 26. There is nothing that could have prepared me for the loss of my sister, Rachel. The emotions are still raw as I write this today, but they go beyond grief and include gratitude. I am grateful for the outpouring of love and generosity that friends, families and strangers have poured out on my family, especially Rachel's girls! It is love that helps us find our way. Curran Funeral Home has a wonderful employee named Norm. Norm is also on my list of people to be grateful for. The death of a young person carries a sting that hopefully only few will ever know, and an unexpected death adds in chaos and fear. The hours after Rachel's death swarmed with questions and concerns, and our call to the Curran Funeral Home led to a prompt knock at my front door with a respectful gentleman named Norm. Norm was organized, knowledgable, helpful, and empathetic. His visit ushered in the first glimpse of organization for the funeral, obituary and services. He was able to answer all of our questions, and his insight proved to be useful as we took his advice in the days that followed. I remain grateful for Norm and for the Curran funeral home. They provided my sister with a beautiful service! Many complimented us on how personable it was. Norm's interview helped us to provide the information needed to make the services reflect who Rachel was, and I could not have asked for a better way to honor my baby sister. She deserved the best, and I appreciate all of the staff at the Curran funeral home who worked so heard to support our family and honor our Rachel Joy. It made a difference during the darkest days that I have ever seen. Your ongoing availability remains a resource that we feel blessed to have. Thank you!

It was a great experience to have Norman preside over the Celebration of Life Tribute Service for my grandmother. Norman spoke to us during the service with such ease and compassion - he told the story of Marian with the words that my aunts and uncles shared the night before. He took the time to find fitting poems and pulled together a really moving review of who my grandmother was and what her dash comprised of. Even with our polka song selection and chuck berry opening - he treated our requests with the up-most respect. I am grateful to have spent a day reflecting on a grandmother that truly loved her family. Even more so, it was wonderful to get a copy of his tribute speech so that I might share it with those who could not attend the service. After helping my Dad with my parents funeral arrangments, my Mom passed away two months later. We never expected anything to happen that soon. Each time a loved one is lost the grief, pain, and sadness are immeasurable and unique to each individual experiencing the loss. During the recent tragic loss of my husband and my two dear friends, James Kunkle and Norman Connors were both there for me going above and beyond what they needed to do. Both recognized and were sympathetic and sensitive to the uniqueness of the situation. We spent a morning with Norm, sharing stories of happy times with Chas, Laura, and Michael that became a part of Laura's Celebration of Life. When I walked into the funeral home for both Chas and for Laura, the areas were filled with things they loved. While sad, they also provided comfort. In time of need, the staff at Curran will provide much, much more than a building and a service. They provide a tender memorial for the lost loved one with caring and support for the family and friends who must deal with their loss.

Norm did a great job about bringing close friends together to make the Celebration of Life a special event! He made sure to get each person's individual experiences to make this a touching and personal Tribute! I will definitely recommend Currans.

I just had to write to say how pleased I am to have worked with James Kunkle. I have never been involved with the planning of a funeral or all that is involved. James was right there with both my brother and myself as we planned our brother's funeral. James went above and beyond his job description because of all the unusual circumstances. My brother was one of three friends to die in an out of state plane accident. We were trying to coordinate our services with the other families and work with the out of state coroner's office. James did all of this with such professionalism. He listened, really listened, took notes and then did research. He took care of so many details for our family. I was more than a little apprehensive going into the first night of receiving. James assured me he would be watching and taking care of issues as they arose. James managed everything. He did an outstanding job with the cards that were given to those who came to pay their respects. He took many of the details of my brother's life and used them to "decorate" the funeral home. James even allowed us to bring in my brother's motorcycle. I'm not sure who, but someone even took the time to wash the motorcycle before placing it on display! No one wants to plan a funeral, but with James by your side, you will make it through. And not only will you make it through, the plans you make will create a very fitting tribute to your loved one.

I want you to know what a beautiful tribute a Celebration of Life service can be when performed by Norman Connors. When we were presented with the option to have a Celebration of Life service it was very intriguing. This sounded like the perfect way to pay tribute to my brother. Norman contacted family and friends and asked a few questions. From the answers he created a wonderful service that included stories and special memories. Even the music selections were songs that were fitting for my brother. The final song (a favorite of my brother's) had everyone laughing because it was "I'm a Happy Boy" by The Beat Farmers. Norman was also present for the receiving hours doing all he could to sure the family was well cared for. All I can say is Thank You Norman! You helped to create good memories from a sad occasion.

We were very satisfied with the attention to detail and the family. When we had a request the staff was there to take care of it. They took care of every little detail, including putting everything in the car for us. By the time we thought of something it was already done. When dealing with Norm he was very caring and always listening to our needs. James was also very good at making sure everything for the viewing was perfect.

Very happy how my father was allowed to choose what he wanted for his wife regardless he had a family member present that planned to make all the decisions. Very happy how my father was treated with no rushing to make choices and how beautiful my mother looked at the viewings. Mr. Connors was excellent, he followed request to the letter. "Thank you"

Dear Art, This "thank you" is overdue but none the less sincere. Richard must have been so proud of you. I know I was. His funeral was truly a celebration of life. Every detail was taken care of with love, consideration and perfection! Our family and friends were all so impressed with how smoothly everything went and the U.M.W.A. men from the International said they had never seen anything like the professionalism of it all! Richard and I have been faithful supporters of the Curran Funeral Home for years and years. Truly Art, you and each of your staff are the very best! You know that I worked for Gary for several years and Gary was a perfectionist. And so, Art, are you. I cannot think of one thing taht I would have changed. You helped to make an unbearable situation a bearable one. Thank you for the extras - the military service, the release of the doves, etc., etc. There is not one detail that would have changed. When the sun burst forth just as the soloist sand "and make you to rise like the sun", that was awe inspiring. One of my dear friends told me afterwards that her adult son said "Mom I didn't think it was possible to say a funeral was beautiful, but that funeral was beautiful". Mr. Norm Conners is the greatest of them all. Not only did he complete everything for my husbands funeral, he has also been there repeatedly for me and my family since his passing. I choose to have the "Celebration of Life Ceremony" for my husband & when I met with Norm to share with him about my husband's family and life, he was on every word I said. Not only was it a wonderful tribute to my husband, but Norm made it really sound to everyone that he had personally met him. To this day all of the people that showed up for his funeral are still speaking of the ceremony that Norm performed. All of the arrangements that were completed by Norm & the funeral home were done very tastefully, respectfully, and promptly. I would recommend no other place than Curran's to have your loved ones final arrangements completed by. They are very professional, sincere, and foremost friendly. Everything was professional and tasteful. Mother was in pink just like I imagined her to be. Someone added a lovely cross which was in such good taste. I loved the fact the the funeral facility was all on one level, easy to find, and distinctively decorated with high seats for those who cannot sit low. The staff was extremely pleasant and I loved that one gentlemen specifically had requested to work the viewing services because he knew my brother.
